We have partnered with Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission to explore the future of New Zealand’s Public Service through a joint long-term insights briefing - LTIB.
The joint LTIB will concentrate on a single topic, that will be selected through public consultation. Public consultation on the LTIB is currently open – and closes on 13 October 2024, so there is still time to have your say.
Focus of the LTIB:
The LTIB will concentrate on a single topic, selected through public consultation, from three proposed areas:
- The Future of the Public Service Workforce: Addressing shifts in demographics, skills, and technological impacts.
- The Future of Public Service Integrity: Exploring risks such as foreign interference and the necessity for stronger oversight.
- The Future of Public Service Organisations: Rethinking governance models to tackle complex issues like climate change and institutional trust.
Regulatory Focus:
Our role, in partnership with Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission, is to bring a regulatory perspective to the LTIB. In light of demographic shifts, advancements in technology, and evolving expectations from New Zealanders, our goal is to ensure that our regulatory systems can adapt to meet emerging needs.
