We help other government agencies to improve the quality of the rules and regulations they create – and in turn, help to improve outcomes and the lives of all New Zealanders.
What is a regulatory review?
We want rules and regulations to enable New Zealanders to do more - leading to more productive use of people’s time, and far better outcomes for those who want to get things done.
Regulatory reviews enable the Ministry to engage with people impacted by regulation and to identify how existing regulation could or should be improved.
When we conduct a review, it may be broad and look at a whole sector, or it may be a specific aspect of a regulatory system.
Future reviews
The Ministry will focus on regulatory issues that are of national significance.
We are currently developing a framework to assist in the selection and prioritisation of future sector reviews.
Engaging with a review
Each regulatory review will be developed with a tailored engagement plan, that will take into consideration particular audiences and stakeholders. Most sector reviews will be targeted, to ensure those individuals and organisations affected by specific rules and regulations have the opportunity to engage in the process.
Have your say – engagement hub
Our engagement hub is where you can have your say on our current regulatory reviews.
The hub is our platform for feedback. Here we'll publish our reports and findings on final recommendations, and any other relevant review related material.
