Our progress continues
23 October 2024
Since our official set-up on 1 March 2024, the Ministry for Regulation has made considerable progress in its development and operational capacity.
In the early days, the Ministry was supported by a mix of people seconded from other government agencies, fixed-term staff, and a small number of contractors, ensuring we had the right mix of skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of a complex establishment phase.
With our initial establishment phase now ending, and the appointment of our senior leadership team, we are transitioning to a more permanent workforce, with an anticipated future headcount of about 90 full-time employees. Our recruitment is underway, with new roles being advertised on our Careers Hub as they go to market. As we progress, there will be a reduction in our seconded, fixed-term, and contractor roles.
Once we have our permanent structure in place, the Ministry will be in a great position to continue delivering on our important role as a central government agency, helping other government agencies to make their rules and regulations easier for New Zealanders to navigate.
